Academic Awards and Scholarships

 

These academic awards are sponsored by the school, local community organizations and businesses.  These scholarship, bursaries and awards are typically awarded at the Gr. 12 Cap and Gown Closing Exercises at the end of June.

$100 Recipient will have the highest mark in the associated course, with  discretion in regards to the recipient's overall standing in the school community. Attending post secondary not a requirement.   

ELA (-1, -2, -4)/SST Bursaries (-1, -2)

$200 Recipient will have the highest mark in the associated course, with  discretion in regards to the recipient's overall standing in the school community. Attending post secondary not a requirement.   

CCHS Certificate of High School Achievement Bursary

$200 Recipient will have met the requirements for the Certificate of High School Achievement and will be in good standing within the overall school community.  Attending post secondary not a requirement.   

CCHS Academic Bursary

Multiple at $250/scholarship Recipients must have met criteria for Academic Merit (CORE Average above 75% and cannot have a CORE mark below 65%) Attending post secondary not a requirement  

CCHS Highest Credit Count Bursary

$1/Per Credit Recipient will have been awarded the highest number of credits in the graduating class and will be in good standing within the overall school community. Attending post secondary not a requirement.   

Duane & Jane Anne Reimer Bursary

$150 Recipient must be registered in a Post Secondary Early Childhood, Childcare or associated program. Proof of post secondary registration required.  

Ascent Dental - Dr. Lieshman Scholarship

$200 Recipient must be entering post secondary to study Dentistry, Dental Assistant or Dental Hygienist.  If no student meets this criteria, the recipient will have the highest combined marks in Chemistry, Biology & Physics 30 and entering post-secondary studies, preferably in the field of Science.  Proof of post secondary registration required.  

Stewart Schlender Memorial Minor Hockey Scholarship

$500 Recipient must be currently be or previously have been playing/coaching/officiating CNP minor hockey.   Attending post secondary not a requirement.   

CNP CUPE 812

$300 Student must be entering a recognized post-secondary institution or trades program.  Preference given to a student who is a child or relative of a current or former member of CUPE 812. Proof of post secondary registration required.  

Earl Scott Memorial Scholarship

$300 Recipient must be pursuing a career in music and attending post-secondary.  If no students are pursuing a career in music, the recipient must have been involved in music in high school and attending post-secondary.  Proof of post secondary registration required.  

Coleman Lions Scholarship

$500 Recipient spends time volunteering in the community. While academic achievements are a consideration, academics are not the main criteria.  Scholarship committee will also consider the candidate's financial need. Attending post secondary not a requirement.   

Blairmore Lions Scholarship (Post Secondary)

$500 Student is pursuing post secondary and has volunteered in the community.
Proof of post secondary registration required.  

Blairmore Lions Scholarship (Trades)

$500 Student is pursing a career in the trades and has volunteered in the community. Attending post secondary not a requirement  

Sinister Sports Scholarship

$500 Student is registered in Health, Wellness, Medical or Arts & Design or shows a passion in any discipline that does not qualify for another scholarship.
Proof of post secondary registration required.  

West Fraser Field of Forestry Scholarship

$500 Recipient must be registered in Forestry Studies at UofA, UBC, NAIT, BCIT or equivalent. Proof of post secondary registration required.  

West Fraser General Studies Scholarship

$500 Recipient must be accepted in a minimum two year program. Must have achieved a basic high school average of 70% and must be enrolled in the post secondary program for this calendar year. Proof of post secondary registration required.  

Rocky Mountain Optometry

$500 Student must be "strong in science", and preferably not receiving another scholarship.
Attending post secondary not a requirement  

Evan Gushul Scholarship

Multiple at $500/scholarship Recipient must entering a recognized post secondary institution in Canada. Has successfully studied in the following areas - Art 10/20/30, Music 10/20/30, Sciences 10/20/30 Proof of post secondary registration required.  

Julia & Roy Whitehouse Post Secondary Scholarship

Multiple at $500/scholarship Recipient must be have achieved academic excellence ( have met honour roll criteria) and must be attending a recognized post-secondary institution.
Proof of post secondary registration required.  

Kenney Family Scholarship

$500 Female student - can be entering the trades, hardworking student, and in good standing within the overall school community.  Academic performance to be considered, but is not the main criteria.    Attending post secondary not a requirement.   

Kenney Family Scholarship

CUPE Local 2133 Livingstone Range School Division Support Staff

$750

Recipient must submit an essay to an external panel.  The recipient is typically a relative of current or retired CUPE Local 2133 members. 

Attending post secondary not a requirement.  May 30 Deadline for Application.

Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Crowsnest Branch Scholarship

$1000 in first year and $2000 following the first semester of second year.  

Recipient must be entering a recognized post-secondary institution in Earth Sciences, which will include, but not limited to, geology, geophysics, metallurgy, mineral processing, mining, mineralogy Online application process through School District No 5

Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Crowsnest Branch Trades Scholarship

$1000 Recipient plans to enter a post-secondary institution in the Trades, which will include but not limited to, mechanics, welding, electrician Proof of post secondary registration required. May 1 Deadline for Application.

TECK Courageous Leadership Scholarship

$1000 Must apply and submit an essay to an external panel.
  May 1 Deadline for Application.

Livingstone/MacLeod Association Bursary Fund

One $2,000 scholarship awarded within Livingstone Range Schools

Student must apply to an external panel.

Recipient must meet requirements of a high school diploma and require assistance to advance to a Trade's Post Secondary Institute (Olds College, SAIT, NAIT, Lethbridge College, U of Lethbridge and U of A Agricultural Faculty. Student must submit an essay telling of their background and what draws them to a career in the trades.  Two letters of reference required.

Enmax Scholarship

One $1,000 scholarship awarded within LRSD.

Student must apply to n external panel.

 

Recipient must have demonstrated academic progress and have a minimum 65% average in Gr. 12. Applicant must have demonstrated outstanding environmental leadership and citizenship by the participation in non-academic activities for the school and community through Gr. 10-12. Applicant must submit an essay on the impact that Environmental Leadership activities and volunteerism has had on the student's life, school and or community (specific criteria from ENMAX) Two Letters of Reference Required

Northback Scholarships

Multiple Scholarships totaling $4,000 awarded annually

 

Half of the total award must be awarded to a female student. 

Recipient must be accepted and enrolled in a post secondary/training program (trade, college, university) in a discipline related to the resource industry. Students are role models for other students based on their demonstrated contribution to the school and/or community as recognized by the selection committee. Proof of post secondary registration required.  

Joanne & Ed Drain Scholarship

$1,000

Recipient must be entering a post secondary education program in the field of Engineering, Engineering Tech, Power Engineering etc.   Priority to be given to a student considered to be economically disadvantaged.
Proof of post secondary registration required.  

Dan Marcial Memorial Scholarship

$1.000

Recipient must be enrolled in post secondary and have achieved academic excellence (Honour Roll Criteria). Must be enrolled in Power Engineering, Engineering, Health & Safety or Trades.  Proof of post secondary registration required. Recipient will have two years from the date of graduation to attend post secondary; funds will be held at the school until proof of enrollment is provided to the school.
Eugene Fabro Memorial Scholarship

$1,000

Recipient can be entering the college, trades or university. Academic Excellence is not a requirement. Must be a hard working student and in good standing within the overall school community. Financial Need is a required factor for consideration.

Dr. Kay Kerr Scholarship

Multiple at $1,000/scholarship

Recipient must be entering a recognized post secondary institution. Proof of post secondary registration required.  
Audrey Bonne Memorial Scholarship

$1,000

Recipient must be enrolled in a University in the field of Science or English. Enrollment in the Sciences also includes Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine Proof of post secondary registration required.  
Eric & Wilma Prentice University Scholarship

$1,000

Recipient must be registered in an accredited University. Recipient must have strong marks and has demonstrated leadership through Personal Perseverance, Sports, Community Service or School Activities. Financial Need will be considered a material consideration and where possible the award should financially assist a student who is challenged by the cost of attending university.

Darcy's Nature Walk for Mental Wellness

Shirley (Montalbetti) Wolfe Memorial Scholarship

$2,000

Recipient myst be planning on attending a post-secondary instution in the pursuit of a certifacte, diploma or degree. Demonstrate academic excellence in 30 Level ELA and SST and Arts courses with a preference for music courses.

Schulic Leader Scholarship

 

Student is nominated by the school to an external panel. Proof of post secondary registration required.  
Dr. Lloyd Cavers Student Leadership Scholarship

Student is nominated by the school to a committee of the Livingstone Range School Division Board of Trustees Attending post secondary not a requirement  
Livingstone Range School Division CTS Scholarship

Recipient has met the requirements of a High School Diploma, completed a majority of their courses in a particular CTS Cluster and is registered in a post secondary institution. Proof of post secondary registration required.  
Livingstone Range School Division Academic Scholarship

Recipient has the highest academic average and is registered in a post-secondary institution. Proof of post secondary registration required.  
CCHS Trades & Technology Scholarship

Multiple at $500/Scholarship

Recipient must have been a successful participant in school trades programming, intending to enter the trades and be in good standing as a member of the school community.

CCHS Academic Scholarship

Multiple at $500/scholarship

Recipients must have met criteria for Academic Excellence (CORE Average above 80% and cannot have a CORE mark below 75%) and be in good standing within the overall school community.  Proof of post secondary registration required. Can be deferred for two years.
CCHS Jerome Rejman Student Leadership Scholarship

Recipient will have demonstrated appropriate leadership within their high school years, including grade 12 and be in good standing within the overall school community.  Academic performance will be considered, but is not a main factor.  Attending post secondary not a requirement
